What are the long term effects of nerve root pressure?

There is a gradient character to the effects of conduction blockage. In other words, the greater the pressure the larger the amount of nerve flow is affected.

When a spinal nerve (root) is subjected to pressure, the order of functional deficit is the loss of motor function, proprioception, touch, temperature, pain and finally sympathetic system last. In other words, when you are subluxated, you probably will feel muscle weakness first.

According to protein analysis, both degeneration and regeneration are taking place when a nerve is experiencing compression, and both impair function.
